Cool Ornamental Grass Pruning

Has cabin fever gotten to you yet?  Do you long to go into your garden and do something, anything?  Looking outside the weather doesn’t look the most inviting, but now is a good time to get those shears out and trim back those cool ornamental grasses growing in your garden.   You’re probably saying to yourself are my grasses cool or warm season?  Here are some of the more familiar cool season ornamental grasses:

• Alopecurus pratensis ‘Aureovariegatusn – Common Name: Golden foxtail grass
• Deschampsia cespitosa ‘Bronzeschleier’- Common Name: Bronze veil tufted hair grass
• Calamagrostis x acutiflora ‘Karl Foerster”- Common Name: Feather reed grass
• Festuca cinerea ‘Fruehlingsblau’ – Common Name: Spring blue fescue
• Festuca glauca ‘Select’ – Common Name: Blue fescue
• Helictotrichon sempervirens – Common Name: Blue oat grass
